A Child's Place maintains written policies that guide our approach to major issues and provide a common understanding of many practical and safety related issues. Our policies reflect current state and federal regulations as well as best practices in early childhood educaiton. We suggest that all parents become familiar with our policies and we encourage you to contact your child's head teacher or the Executive Director if you have any questions. Our programs and policies reflect the contributions of all involved and are updated regularly to reflect parent feedback as well as changes in state and federal regulations and best professional practices.
SECURITY
The Parent-Child Center Board of Directors (comprised of the directors of all three early childhood centers located in the building, as well as members of each of those communities) recently contracted a security expert to assess the safety of our building. While improving the security of the environment will remain an ongoing commitment, the following policies were implemented in September 2002.
While some of these policies may cause some inconvenience, the safety of your children, our staff and the entire community is of the utmost importance to all. With that in mind, we ask you to follow these procedures in order to help make A Child's Place a safe and secure environment for everyone.

- Only the front entrance of A Child’s Place will be used for entering or exiting the center, and only members of A Child’s Place will be allowed to use this entrance. The other two centers will enact the same policy.
- The front doors will be locked and will remain locked. A doorbell has been installed, and office staff will be available to open those doors as needed.
- Staff will receive training in issues surrounding the safety and security of the center.
- Parking for members of A Child’s Place community is restricted to the front parking lot and areas surrounding our entrance. Staff cars will be identified with stickers in the rear windows, and families may park behind those cars when quickly dropping off or picking up.
